½ kebab pizza + green salad + water≈ 490 kcal22 g
Chicken salad wrap + ketchup + diet cola≈ 590 kcal24 g

Pitta kebab 300 g + white sauce + water, no chips≈ 830 kcal46 g

The thing to watch: salt

A 300 g pitta kebab has about 3.7 g of salt, and the classic meal over 4 g. The World Health Organization recommends less than 5 g a day: after a kebab, go for low-salt meals for the rest of the day.

6 tips for a lighter kebab

Swap chips for salad

That is about 370 kcal less for a 150 g portion.

Choose harissa

23 kcal instead of 130 kcal for white sauce or 157 kcal for samurai sauce. Ask for the sauce on the side so you control the amount.

Pick pitta over baguette

A pitta kebab (300 g) has about 250 kcal less than a baguette kebab (350 g).

Have a sugar-free drink

Diet cola or water instead of a 330 ml cola is 130 kcal less without changing anything else.

Ask for extra salad

Lettuce, tomato and onion add volume and fibre for only a few calories.

Balance it over the day

An occasional kebab will not wreck a calorie deficit: just go lighter on your other meals that day.
