About Ember
Ember is an app that makes calorie counting simple: a photo, a sentence or a barcode is all it takes. It is designed and built in Paris by one person.

Who is behind Ember?
My name is Mus and I live in Paris. I have been a developer for 6 years and a solopreneur for 3: I build apps that help me in my daily life, trying to turn them into tools as many people as possible can enjoy.
With Ember, I wanted a truly intuitive app that makes counting calories easy and pleasant. Most calorie counters ask you to search for every food in a database; I wanted taking a photo of your meal or describing it in one sentence to be enough.
I am the only person behind the project, but I find it exciting and I will take it as far as I can. Every piece of feedback matters, so feel free to write to me.

How Ember works
Ember uses artificial intelligence to estimate a meal’s nutrition, then leaves you the final say.
- Photo
- Snap your plate: Ember identifies the foods, estimates portions and calculates calories, protein, carbs and fat.
- Text
- Describe your meal as you would to a friend, such as “a plate of pasta carbonara and a yogurt”. Ember does the rest.
- Barcode
- Scan a packaged product to get its nutrition facts.
- Correction
- Every estimate stays editable: you can adjust a food, a portion or the preparation at any time.
What guides Ember
Simplicity first
A tracking app is only useful if you open it every day. Ember is designed so that logging a meal takes seconds.
Honesty about accuracy
A photo does not show everything: exact weight, cooking oil or sauces can escape the analysis. Ember gives estimates and lets you correct them. Ember does not replace advice from a doctor or dietitian.
No ads
Ember shows no advertising. The free version includes up to two AI analyses per day, and an optional subscription unlocks more.
Checked content
The guides and comparisons on this site cite their sources and show when they were last updated. Comparisons state that they are published by Ember.
